Do you buy used gear?
Yes. We buy, consign and trade. We pay cash for fine fretted instruments, amplifiers and effects. It’s always best to bring your instrument or amplifier in so we can see it. If you are not local you can email an accurate description of your item and we will discuss pricing.
Do you sell used gear?
Absolutely! We a full selection of guitars, amps and effects pedals. Most come with our Imperial Guitar 3 or 6-month warranty for local purchases.
Do you take trade-ins?
Yes. We buy, consign and trade. It’s always best to bring your instrument or amplifier in so we can see it.
Do you do special orders?
Most Definitely. If you don’t see it in stock we probably can get it. Come in or call.
Do you repair Guitars and Amps?
Yes. We do this very well. We have expert technicians on staff. We can handle everything from string and tube changes to full restorations and mods.
Do you rent sound equipment?
Yes. We stock the gear for speaking engagements, nightclubs and small outdoor events.
Do you appraise instruments?
Yes, for insurance purposes. This is a specialty of ours.
Do you ship worldwide?
Yes. We have been shipping new, used and vintage musical instruments across the globe for over 40 years and we are fully insured.
SHIPPING INFO
THE IGS SATISFACTION GUARANTEE
It is of paramount importance that you are completely satisfied with any item you purchase. You have a 48-hour approval period. In the unlikely event that you are dissatisfied with your order, simply call to let us know within the 48-hour period. If we can easily rectify your concern we will do so, otherwise we will exchange the item or refund your purchase price (excluding shipping). You must first call for a Return Authorization. You are responsible for shipping and insurance costs when returning an item. All returns must be in the same condition as they were when originally shipped. Note: special orders are non-cancelable and non-refundable.
MAIL ORDERS
It’s easy to do business with us by mail. We ship instruments, amplifiers and accessories throughout the U.S. and abroad daily. We have been shipping guitars and amplifiers for over 40 years and you can be rest assured your order will be delivered to you quickly and safely. All shipments are fully insured. All new products are fully covered by the manufacturer’s warranty. Used gear usually carries our 30-day mail-order warranty.
PLACING PHONE ORDERS
The easiest and fastest way to order used gear or other items is to place an order over the phone with your credit card. We accept VISA, MasterCard, Discover, American Express and Paypal (confirmed address only). Along with your card number and expiration date, we require your credit card billing address and phone number. Your order will be authorized and your account will be billed the day of the order.

We also accept certified checks, postal and bank money orders, as well as bank-to-bank wire transfers. Always email or call for availability, accurate description and shipping costs before sending money.
GUITAR ORDERS
All stringed instruments ordered from IGS receive a complete professional set up by a qualified guitar technician. Set up includes complete cosmetic inspection, new strings of your choice (except bass), truss rod adjustment, action set up, pickup adjustment, electronic tuning and intonation adjustment, and final test for playability. (Used amplifiers and effects get a final burn-in and performance test before shipping). We take pride in having the finest guitar and amp technicians in the mail order industry.
GUITAR FREIGHT (U.S.)
Most stringed instruments sold by IGS are shipped UPS Ground service for $50.00 to $100.00 for the 48 Contiguous states. (Overnight Red Label is also available).
GUITAR FREIGHT (Foreign)
We ship instruments worldwide. Our shipping department assures safe delivery of guitars anywhere in the world. We use UPS and Fed Ex. You are responsible for any import duties, V.A.T., etc. on delivery. It is advisable to consult with your local customs office. Please order carefully. Bank-to-bank wire transfers always work best on international orders.
We accept VISA, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, and bank-to-bank wire transfers.
CITES
We ship worldwide but the current CITES rules make it difficult to ship rosewood outside the US. We haven’t worked out all the bureaucratic details yet.
OTHER FREIGHT (U.S.)
Most small goods (picks, strings, pedals, accessories, etc.) are $3.55 and up for USPS Ground service. Size and weight of amplifiers vary greatly. Typically UPS Ground service for amplifiers starts about $40.00 and goes up. Please call or use our contact form for a shipping price if the piece you wish to purchase is not available on-line.)
